I’ll write a more formal introduction later. For now, has anybody seen this horrible joke?
It’s one of those jokes that feels racist without actually being racist. Maybe it’s just the context: America’s next top hayseed speaking at an NRA convention. Nobody’s saying that the NRA is racist, it’s just that I always picture racists as belonging to the NRA.
More importantly, of course, it wasn’t very funny. Which is weird, because Huckabee is just about neck-and-neck with Obama in the running for funniest candidate from this cycle. Check out a couple of examples. But improv comedy is hard. Keep at it, Mike. May your next attempt be less shitty and disturbing.
